Representing ME
Exercise 1 - Self Portrait.
We were required to produce a self-portrait that most represent our personalities. This exercise acts as an ice-breaking session which enables us to know each other better and also interact. Below shows the work i produced.
In this portrait, i have used the concept of layering whereby fist the skin, then exposing muscles and later the skull. this resembles the different layers of me you'll see when you get to know me better.
Project 1 Representing ME
Using the concept of layers from the first exercise, the above images show the final materials used during the final presentation, the leaflet was placed under some of the chairs during the presentation, as those who gets them have to help me to read them out. Loud. Then, each character will be revealed on the projector with the help of Adobe Photoshop. This symbolizes that effort is needed in order to get to know me.
Through this project, i have learnt how to generate design concepts through the process of exploring various sources and abstracting ideas. Besides that, knowing more about myself and also self initiated learning.
Project 2: Me in SPACE.
Across this project, i have learnt various concepts and skills such as anthropometry, scale and proportions, basic design elements, and also relationship between form, space and function. We worked around designs which gives the person within and experience as emphasis of this project was given on the spacial experience given to those who inhabited the space.
The end product was actually a cubical with finns positioned at different angle which gives the inhabitant a very selective view. Besides that, the interior was a sphere giving those who enter a twist in experience from the angular exterior to the smooth and curvy interior.
Through this project, we have learnt that group communication and team building is very important. Besides that, we generate design concepts through the process of exploring various sources and abstracting ideas from concepts. we were also able to identify key architectural design elements and principles with the ability to discern how they inform space and
form. Meanwhile, relating the idea of the individual ‘self’ and the body to space and its experiential qualities. Lastly, utilize the process-oriented approach involving sketching and model-making as tools for developing design ideas.
Project 3: MY City Dreamspace
In this project, we were gives futuristic themed movie as the site and were required to create a character within and design a dreamspace. A narrative was assigned to the character and the dreamspace was created accordingly. I was assigned to use the movie 'Fifth Element' as my site. As for my character, He is the richest businessman in the movie itself with personalities such as confident, optimistic, extroverted, and lonely due to lack of love. These personalities were later translated into design elements and the dreamspace took shape as shown below.
